Please note that these rules are subject to changes and additions if deemed necessary.
General Nominations & Voting Rules
- The Castle Awards are not in any way associated with ABC or the Castle cast and crew.
- Unless specified otherwise, people can nominate either their own work or the work of others. If you are nominating another person you must provide us with their name and a working email address so we may notify them of their nomination if they are chosen as a finalist. If you cannot provide an email address please provide an alternate method of contact (eg, author’s fanfic page).
- Individuals may be selected by our panel of judges as a finalist in a maximum of categories with only one entry per person per category unless specified otherwise.
- Individuals may vote only once per category. Anyone found to be cheating and voting more than once will have their votes removed and risk being blocked from the awards site to prevent further voting.
- Nominees cannot spam any forum, Twitter or Facebook or other site repeatedly asking people to vote for them. It is OK to let people know you have been nominated but repeated mentions will put you at risk of being disqualified.
- These awards are for fans, to be fair, if the nominee is a professional (eg, gets paid for writing, graphics etc) their nomination may not be allowed, you must specify in your submission if you or the person you are nominating is a professional.
- For the benefit of judges all submitted works must be in English (we can’t judge something if we can’t understand it).
- Judges have the right to reject any nomination. The decision of the judges is final.
- There must be at least 4 qualified nominations per category for the category to continue to the judging stage.
- Judges may not judge in a category they have been nominated in.
- For each category there will be two winners, popular vote winner and judges panel winner.
Rules – Fan Fiction
- Must be 100% original work – no re-writing of scenes from the show, Nikki Heat novels or works written by others.
- No real-person fiction, adults-only content or slash (slash = characters established in the series/Nikki Heat novels as straight but portrayed as gay in the fic, introducing new characters who are gay is ok).
- Judges will take into consideration the overall story, how well you represent characters as established in the series or novels and also your grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Stories must be complete and not in-progress works.
- Stories must be submitted via the nomination form as either txt or doc files if submitting as a document. Links to published stories may be provided but they must be available to read without having to register at the link location.
Rules – Videos
- Must be less than 15 minutes.
- Videos must be uploaded to youtube and a link provided via the nomination form.
- Must not contain continuous video from an episode of longer than 1 minute.
- Must not contain obscene language or adult content.
- Judges will take into consideration the overall “story’ of the video as well as the quality of editing & transitions and relevance of music if used.
Rules – Fine Art
- Must be 100% your original work.
- Cannot incorporate any photos or screenshots, third party images etc.
- Images must be scanned or photographed and submitted via the nomination form in jpg, gif or png format.
Rules – Graphics
- Avatars must be 100 x 100 pixels (3 submissions per person may be selected as finalists).
- Animated avatars must be under 1MB (3 submissions per person may be selected as finalists).
- Banners must be max 800 x 200 pixels.
- Animated banners must be under 1MB.
- Must not contain any adults-only content.
- All graphics must be submitted via the nomination form as either jpg, gif or png format.
Rules – Best Fan (non artistic)
- This is the section for the less artistic fans. We can’t all draw or create graphics or videos or write but there are plenty fans who still contribute to the fandom in other ways, this section is for them.
- No self-nominations allowed, you cannot ask someone else to nominate you in this section.
